To date or not to date? Co-stars and off-screen couple Tom Holland and Zendaya were actually warned not to date ahead of the latest Spider-Man movie.
Amy Pascal revealed in a new interview with The New York Times that she cautioned Zendaya and Holland against getting romantically involved. “I took Tom and Zendaya aside, separately, when we first cast them and gave them a lecture,” she shared. “Don’t go there — just don’t. Try not to.”
Tom and Zenadaya are not the first in the web slinger franchise to share a romantic tryst. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst dated back in 2001 while filming the first Spider-Man movie. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone also dated from 2011 to 2015 while filing The Amazing Spider-Man.
“I gave the same advice to Andrew and Emma. It can just complicate things, you know?” the producer explained. “And they all ignored me.”
Holland and Zendaya were photographed by paparazzi kissing at a stop light in Los Angeles in July after years of rumors that they were much more than just friends. They have since been slightly more open about their relationship, but still keep things between them very private.
While their new movie is already something of a success, both stars have a number of other projects on the way as well.
The second season of Zendaya’s show Euphoria is set for release next year, and she will reprise her role as Chani from Dune for the sequel which is scheduled for a 2023 release.
She is also rumored to take a part in the upcoming Francis Ford Coppola film Megalopolis alongside Cate Blanchett and Oscar Isaac.
Holland, on the other hand, will play Nathan Drake in the movie Uncharted and Fred Astaire in a biopic about the iconic actor.
Spider-Man: No Way Spider-Man: No Way Home is out in cinemas now.
