In Tom Brady’s 22-year NFL career, he’s made about $333 million in contracts with the Patriots and Buccaneers. Well, Fox is reportedly willing to pay Brady more than that for 10 years of announcing duties.
According to The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, Brady is going to join Fox as the network’s top NFL analyst once his playing career comes to an end. And while there were jokes about Brady never retiring, the figure that Fox is willing to dish out for Brady’s services was stunning.
Brady, who has never called an NFL game from the booth, will make $375 million over 10 years with Fox.
Fox doesn’t even know if Brady will be any good in the booth as on-field success doesn’t correlate to being an effective broadcaster. But with Tony Romo’s immediate announcing success and the loss of Troy Aikman to ESPN, Fox wanted a big name to go alongside Kevin Burkhardt. It’s an incredible gamble on Fox’s part because it’s hard to believe that even the best broadcaster could be worth $37.5 million annually for one game a week. But hey, it’s their money.
NFL fans had plenty of thoughts (and jokes) about that salary.
