If you have multiple subscriptions to several different streaming platforms like many of us—which are all constantly adding new movies, you may wonder the question each successive weekend: What do I watch Now?
Don’t worry. Here’s your guide to new movies that’ll satisfy every cinematic taste, plus some noteworthy theatrical films making their debut on video-on-demand platforms and streaming services:
‘The Fallout’ – HBO Max
Following a deadly incident at her school, Vada (Ortega) confides in popular classmate Mia (Ziegler), who hid in the bathroom with her while the killer stalked fellow students. Vada tries to make sense of the many emotions she’s feeling (Shailene Woodley plays her therapist), plus figure out her relationship going forward with friends and family. It’s a well-acted, unexpectedly funny and extremely soulful drama with a gut-punch of an ending.
The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window – Netflix
Kristen Bell plays a heartbroken woman whose only source of human interaction is by watching life go by in people outside her home’s window. But that monotonous, lackluster existence becomes a bit more exciting when a handsome neighbor moves across the street with his daughter — and topped off when she witnesses a brutal murder! But did she really witness one?
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild – Disney+
When their survival skills are questioned, daredevil possum bros Crash (Vincent Tong) and Eddie (Aaron Harris) seek some independence, get trapped in a cave and are rescued by their oddball idol Buck. They team up to keep the Lost World safe from a vengeful dinosaur (Utkarsh Ambudkar) with a huge brain and a “dinos rule, mammals drool” mindset.
Home Team – Netflix
Based on a true story, this feel-good film tells the story of sports star Sean Payton, a suspended NFL coach who attempts to reconnect with his son by coaching his youth football team. This wild bunch might be tougher to crack than the seasoned pro athletes — but will they be too much to handle?
Needle in a Timestack – Amazon Prime
Nick and Janine live in bliss until her ex warps time to try to tear them apart by using Nick’s old girlfriend. As Nick’s memories and reality disappear, he must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice to save—or let go of—everything he loves.
Reminiscence – HBO Max
Nick Bannister, a private investigator of the mind, navigates the darkly alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories. Living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast, his life is forever changed as he uncovers a violent conspiracy while trying to solve the mystery behind a client who disappeared.
Clean – Apple TV + Google Play
A garbage collector (Adrien Brody) sucked into the orbit of a local crime boss must face the violence of his past to find redemption in this bloody thrill ride.
The Requin – Apple TV, Vudu, Google Play
In the waterlogged thriller, Silverstone and James Tupper play a married couple trying to heal from a tragic loss with a romantic getaway in Vietnam. It winds up being the worst trip ever as a nasty storm turns their villa into pretty much a fancy raft, the husband sustains a gruesome leg injury, plus heat and a lack of clean water threatens them in the middle of the ocean. And that’s all before a school of great whites literally smells blood in the water. Shark movie fans with a taste for the absurd will get a kick out of this B-movie if nothing else.
