Sonic Central 2022: Everything Announced Including Sonic Prime and Sonic Frontiers 

Well, it’s that time of year when we get a bunch of updates from various gaming companies about their projects and goals. With the Sonic Central Livestream, we got a “sneak peek at some upcoming news, partnerships, and events” that specifically revolve around Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends. See what Sega is currently working on and what you can look forward to.

Sonic Origins Trailer

Four iconic Sonic games come to modern consoles in one collection with Sonic Origins. It releases June 23. Players can also play as Knuckles or Tails to explore brand new modes that weren’t in the original sidescrollers. It’s coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Epic Game Store, and Steam.

Sonic Prime new Netflix animated series

The new animated series called Sonic Prime that centers around the hedgehog and his friends is coming to Netflix in the near future. The short clip we were shown involved Shadow the Hedgehog blasting through a verdant location and breaking rocks.

Sonic Frontiers Prologue Teased

We learned that a video will be releasing before Sonic Frontiers that explains what happened before the events of the game. We got to see a teaser image showing Knuckles standing on a pyramid.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Blu-ray and Digital Release Date Announced

The Hedgehog’s latest movie comes to digital and Blu-Ray on August 2, 2022, and includes bloopers, deleted scenes, and a new short that takes place after the events of the movie.

Sonic and Knuckles coming to Fall Guys

Fall Guys is going free to play on Jun 21 and you’ll soon be able to play as Sonic or Knuckles this August when new skins come to the popular multiplayer.

New Chemical Plant World Content Coming to Sonic Speed Simulator

Sonic Speed Simulator, the “fastest game in Roblox”, is getting a new Chemical Plant World content update, starting June 11. The new content will allow you to unlock the Amy Rose chao using a new code.

New Sonic Licensing Deals Announced For Food, Drink, Gaming Accessories, and More

Sega also announced a variety of new licensing deals that will see Sonic characters and branding appear on all sorts of items, from the normal to the slightly odd. 

On the collectibles front, Neamedia is making new Sonic items, including ‘90s inspired statues of Sonic and statues of Amy Rose and Tails from F4F. Moor Art is creating silkscreen prints, too. And if you’d rather wear than display your Sonic items, then HYPE is producing a new line of Sonic sports gear as part of its Sonic the Hedgehog capsule collection. 

As for gaming accessories, a new Sonic the Hedgehog Wireless Controller and Quick Charging Stand from Razer is on the way, and EXG’s has a new Sonic-themed Cable Guy controller holder. If you’d rather play physical games than video games, then this fall you can pick up the Egg Mobile Battle Set that features five configurations from the games. 

Finally, in the weirder category, there’s a “Knuckles-inspired” energy drink in the works at G FUEL and PEZ is creating Tails and Knuckles dispensers.

New Sonic Frontiers gameplay

The Livestream ended with a brand new quick look at Sonic Frontiers combat and gameplay. More information will be coming out this year as we get closer to the game’s release. Sonic Frontiers will come to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
