The Andor TV show brings one of the stars of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to the small screen.
Set around five years before Rebel spies recovered plans to the Death Star – paving the way for Luke Skywalker to fire those fateful proton torpedos down an exhaust port – the show focusses on Cassian Andor, a secret service operative working for the Rebellion against the Empire.
Diego Luna reprises his Rogue One role as Andor, and with that movie’s co-writer (and Bourne scripter) Tony Gilroy on showrunning duties, it looks set to be an espionage thriller in outer space – think Jason Bourne with starships. Luna has also teased that we’ll “definitely see some familiar faces”, so expect the Andor TV show how key figures in the Rebel Alliance turned a ragtag bunch of soldiers into a force capable of overthrowing the Empire.
How Many Episodes Of Andor Are There?
During the Disney Investor Day 2020, Costume Designer Michael Wilkinson said in the sizzle reel (which you can watch below) that the show will consist of 12 episodes.
What Is Andor’s Plot?
The series follows the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor. “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” said Luna. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.
Will Darth Vader show up in Andor?
Easily the most memorable scene in Rogue One is Darth Vader’s triumphant hallway massacre. When the Rebels are escaping with the Death Star plans, Vader slashes his way through troops in a last-ditch effort to retrieve them.
It’s unlikely that Vader will appear in Andor since the show will focus on street-level Rebel spies and Vader is confirmed for a major role in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but it could be cool.
What about Ahsoka Tano?
Ahsoka Tano showed up first in The Clone Wars. After that, she has gone on to be a beloved Star Wars character. So her debut in The Mandalorian was long-awaited.
Now, viewers of Rebels will know that Ahsoka Tano was actually one of those rebel members who joined at the beginning in Bail Organa’s Rebel initiative. Not to mention that Tano was also important in forming the Rebel Alliance.
In Rebels, she was first working as Fulcrum, a mysterious and unknown rebel agent. But once her true identity got revealed she became a part of season 2 of Rebels. But that was till she was presumed dead as a result of getting murdered on Malachor by Vader. But she actually wasn’t dead. Instead, Ezra Bridger saved her using World-Between-Worlds.
So while she is definitely going to lead her own Disney+ show, but there is a very real possibility that she could show up in Andor way before her very own show.
When Will Andor Be Released On Disney+?
