Warners announced via its Twitter account that you should all “get your #WandsReady” for today (Tuesday, March 13), and finally our first taster has arrived.
The trailer gives glimpses of Hogwarts, as well as Paris, where part of the movie takes place. We also get lots of Jude Law as young Dumbledore, and some tantalising glimpses of other new characters.
The Crimes of Grindelwald is set in 1927, just a few months after the events of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) having been unmasked but also having escaped from custody, now on the loose in possession of the Elder Wand.
Dumbledore (Jude Law), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), must set out to foil his evil plans.
Familiar faces from the first film will return, including Katherine Waterston’s Tina, Alison Sudol as Queenie and Dan Fogler as Jacob.
They’ll be joined by new faces including Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrange (seen in a very brief cameo in the first film) and Claudia Kim playing a mysterious Maledictus – could she turn out to be someone familiar? We shall see…
Derek Riddell has also signed up to play Torquil Travers – and for quite a while he was unaware of the significance of the character’s surname, which belongs to one of the Death Eaters who served Lord Voldemort.
