Day 13 Olympics highlights: Emphatic wins for Crouser, U.S. men

The Tokyo Olympics continue with some big surprises and lots of action. Here is everything what happened today.

U.S. women’s soccer takes home the bronze. Team USA defeated Australia 4-3 with two goals each by Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd

Nevin Harrison became the first American to a win a canoe sprint gold medal in 33 years and the first American woman to ever win gold in a canoe slalom or sprint. She’s also the first woman to win a canoe sprint gold medal in the Olympics because this particular discipline was making its Olympic debut this year. Until this year, only men raced in canoe sprints, and women’s sprinters were limited to kayaks

On the wrestling mat, David Taylor used a burst of speed for a takedown in the last seconds to rally and win gold. Helen Maroulis and Thomas Gilman took bronze in their weight classes

Ryan Crouser broke the 31-year-old world record with a throw of 23.37 meters. On Thursday, he fell 0.07 meters short of that mark but broke his own Olympic record to win his second straight gold medal

Penn State’s Joe Kovacs captured his second straight silver medal in the shot put at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo on Thursday, solidifying his place among the U.S.’s track and field standouts
