All the Unanswered Questions We Have After The Book of Boba Fett Season Finale

The Book of Boba Fett Season Finale tied up Boba Fett’s season-long war with the Pyke Syndicate, leaving him victorious and Mos Espa at peace. Din Djarin has jetted off across the stars with the cutest little green alien in the galaxy, back to his show and all the Darksaber drama within. And yet… we have some questions.

Here’s what we’re still wondering about post-finale.

1. Is Cad Bane Really Dead?

Besides being literally too cool to die, there’s evidence in the episode that this might not be the last we see of Cad Bane. After Boba stabs him, there’s a tiny, blinking device on his chest that doesn’t flicker out. In the Starwars universe, that tiny, blinking light could be incredibly important. Could that little square have been a tiny store of bacta? For that matter, did Boba even hit his heart? We hope to see more about Bane — to lose him after one and a half episodes in live-action would be a shame.

2. How did Ahsoka Tano meet Luke Skywalker?

When Din arrives to deliver his gift to Grogu, he’s greeted by Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). This should be a bit of a surprise for those who watched “The Mandalorian” Season 2, as Ahsoka seemed pretty occupied with other ventures and uninterested in formal Jedi training. At the time, she was on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn — formerly a powerful military leader of the Galactic Empire — with theories abounding that her real mission was locating “Star Wars Rebels” protagonist Ezra Bridger (per Screen Rant). So why would someone with an urgent, unfulfilled mission and no desire to formally rejoin the Jedi Order be aimlessly hanging around with Luke and Grogu? Was Ashoka sharing all she knew about Padme as well Order 66 and the fall of the Jedi?

3. What happened to the Twins?

Though Jabba may be dead during “The Book of Boba Fett,” his kin are still alive and well, and a couple of them show up to challenge Boba’s claim to Jabba’s territory soon after he takes over the palace.  But they there is so much we do not know about them. Where did they come from? What are their names? Is there are a Hutts planet?Where do they rule? Do they actually rule? Did they ever meet Jabba? Are they as ruthless as him? All questions we’d like to see answered someday.

4. Will there be a season 2 of The Book of Boba Fett?

The Book of Boba Fett has not yet been officially renewed for second season, although primary director Robert Rodriguez thinks that Season 2 is definitely possible. The Season 1 finale could either tie things up nicely for the bounty hunter or suggest something more open-ended and set up a story for the second season. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, star Temuera Morrison specifically referenced the finale as an episode to watch out for, stating “Ooh, wait till episode seven, wow!”

5. Is Grogu not training to be a Jedi after all?

Last we saw him before the finale, Luke Skywalker was telling little Grogu to pick between Yoda’s old lightsaber and Mando’s beskar armor. Apparently, he picked the chainmail… but what does that mean for his future as a Jedi? Pretty much all of The Mandalorian’s second season was about trying to get Grogu to a Jedi to train him, and for that storyline to be dropped so quickly would feel like a waste. Hopefully, there’s more to the story here than Luke kicking him out of the academy.

6. How did Bib Fortuna hold power for so long?

Perhaps the bigger question regarding the aftermath of Jabba’s death isn’t what happened exacctly, but how Bib Fortuna managed to stay at the center of it all. In “Return of the Jedi,” Fortuna is portrayed as a subservient wax man –- hardly the kind of character who could effectively run a criminal empire. Boba Fett and Fennec Shand manage to walk right into his palace and take him out with no problems at all at the end of “The Mandalorian” season 2. So how did Fortuna last for years sitting on Jabba’s old throne, and why were Fett and Shand the first opponents to try to take him down?

7. What’s next for Cobb Vanth?

Cobb Vanth, the marshal of Freetown, faced down the notorious bounty hunter and mercenary Cad Bane in “The Book of Boba Fett,” ultimately losing their duel and presumably dying from his wounds. However, the post-credits scene of the “Book of Boba Fett” season finale reveals that Vanth may have survived; he is seemingly being preserved in Fett’s own bacta tank, waiting to be operated on by the cybernetic modder who saved Fennec Shand (played by Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner).

How many modifications will Vanth require to survive, and what will his role on Tatooine be when he emerges from the tank? Will he return to a quiet life in Freetown? Or will the removal of the Pike Syndicate encourage him to expand his peacekeeping efforts planet-wide?

8. How did Grogu survive Order 66?

During Grogu’s training with Luke Skywalker in The Book of Boba Fett Episode 6, Luke tapped into Grogu’s memory bank. And what Grogu remembered was terrifying.

Grogu’s flashback involved him looking on in fear as three mysterious Jedi attempted to defend him from a swath of Stormtroopers. Sadly, the three Jedi appeared to perish in their attempt, and we see the Stormtroopers advancing towards Grogu after the Jedi fall. As of now, it’s still a mystery as to how Grogu managed to escape the Jedi Temple that terrible day. How did he survive Order 66? How he was able to hide his power for 22 years? Did Grogu manage to slip away unnoticed by the time the Jedi died defending him? Or it was Anakin himself who spared everyone’s favorite little green guy?  Maybe Mace Windu somehow survived and rescued grogu at the last minute?
