TWILIGHT MOVIE FUN FACTS

The fifth and final Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn Part 2, opened Nov. 16th 2012 and had an outstanding weekend box office of $141.1 million. Though it wasn't quite enough to set a new record for the popular franchise, it was enough to have it rank eighth of all-time (The Avengers holds the top spot with $207 million) and fourth in for 2012 behind The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and The Hunger Games. Among Twilight movies, it wound up slightly ahead of its predecessor Breaking Dawn Part 1 ($138.1 million), but a bit below New Moon's franchise-best of $142.8 million. This makes Twilight the first franchise ever to have three movies earn over $130 million in their first three days.

Over 5,000 actors auditioned for the role of Edward.  Henry Cavill was Stephenie Meyer's first choice to play Edward. However, but by the time production was to begin, he was 25 years old, and no longer looked the part of a 17-year old. He was then offered the part of Carlisle Cullen but turned it down due to his commitment with "The Tudors" (2007).

As soon as Robert Pattinson was cast, he moved to Oregon and began working on his character, both physically and mentally. He worked out five hours a day with a trainer: learning to fight, play baseball, and do stunts. He also had to learn to drive and get an Oregon driver's license.

Kristen Stewart has naturally green eyes. She wears brown contacts for filming to match Bella's eye color. All of the actors playing the Cullens wear topaz-colored contacts.

Kristen Stewart's stunt double, Katie Powers, get to make an appearance on screen playing a waitress at the diner.

The author of the original books, Stephenie Meyer, can be seen next to a laptop ordering a vegetarian sandwich in the diner at the beginning of the scene where Charlie asks Bella if she likes the boys in town.

Meyer is one of the most successful writers in the world, alongside, J.K. Rowling (Author of the Harry Potter series). She's sold more than 120 million books and the Twilight films have grossed more than $2.5 billion worldwide. Her four books have become five films: Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, parts one and two. But unlike Rowling, who is a recognizable star in her own right, few people know what Meyer even looks like, or that she lives in a modest (now gated) house in Cave Creek, Arizona, a tourist town (population 5000) on the way to the Grand Canyon.

Meyer also loves a good joke, Twilight actor Taylor Lautner says. ''Stephenie was the last person I expected to be a practical jokester,'' he says, ''but all of a sudden when we were filming this movie, we exchanged practical jokes and suddenly we had this war going the whole time.''

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Meyer is unapologetic towards critics who lament the lack of physical intimacy in her books and Bella waiting until her wedding night to lose her virginity. ''I definitely didn't write this thinking, 'I'm going to preach a moral lesson,''' she says without any defensiveness - although it seems she expected the subject to come up. ''But it just felt right for me. You write your own experience and it's not one that's popular in literature and movies right now, so it's nice to have something for those of us who are a little different, right?''

When Bella and Edward are lying in the meadow, the sun coming through the trees makes a heart between them.
