Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Luke Skywalker Shown in New Behind the Scenes Featurette

It’s almost impossible to believe that Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives this friday, but alas - it’s true. And the constant wave of promotional materials are making sure to drill that reality into our heads nearly every day. The latest bit of marketing comes in the form of a new featurette that showcases the cast and crew of Episode VII in action.

The Force Awakens' featurette recently debuted sports the likes of Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Kathleen Kennedy (Executive Producer) and J.J. Abrams (Director). Most notably however, is a rare glimpse of Mark Hamill - the man Luke Skywalker, himself. Normally his presence wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but considering Luke Skywalker has been absent from nearly everytrailer, TV spot and poster throughout The Force Awakens’ entire marketing campaign, it’s a welcome sight to see Hamill’s face. Take a look at the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens featurette, above.

It’s really cool to get a behind-the-scenes tour during The Force Awakens’ featurette, but the best part of the short clip is the air of excitement and commitment surrounding the entire team behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s clear from the cast and crew’s interviews that each and every one of them is a passionate Star Wars fan and dedicated to making Episode VII the best possible film. It’s certainly a welcome sight that should instill even more confidence in J.J. Abrams following the much detested prequel films.

As for Mark Hamill’s brief cameo - it’s probably way more exciting to see him than it should be, but with all the talk about Luke Skywalker dying or turning to the dark side or even being cut out the film altogether, it’s refreshing to see him speaking in the clip about the upcoming film. Skywalker’s exact role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens clearly won’t be spoiled until its release, but showcasing Hamill in the featurette means that Luke will definitely play a significant part in Episode VII. We’ll have to wait just a few more weeks to find out for sure.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens arrives in theaters on Dec. 18!
