Hey guys! I’m Emily and I’ve been reporting with Teen Kids News since eighth grade. The TKN team is so friendly and I’m so grateful I have the opportunity to be a reporter. I love interviewing new people and hearing their stories. I’ve reported on everything from summer first aid tips to a rock band school, but my favorite report was definitely when I interviewed the Olympic gymnast Gabrielle Douglas. She was super down to earth and so easy to talk to!
Aside from reporting, I’ve also been modeling and acting since I was nine years old. I’ve appeared in all kinds of print ads like book covers, Halloween costumes, and clothing catalogs, just to name a few. My first TV experience came not from Teen Kids News, but from acting in toy and clothing commercials.
Dance is my passion. It makes me feel amazing and my favorite place in the entire world is on a stage performing in front of a huge crowd. I’ve been on my school’s Varsity Dance Team since freshman year and I also train outside of school in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and contemporary dance. I began competitively dancing when I was seven and have won numerous solo and group awards with my dance competition group.
My other hobbies include sailing, running, skiing, and playing the violin. I have an older brother who’s currently away at college and a yellow lab named Floss. She eats, sleeps, and plays all day, and while that would be fun, I’d get bored after a while! I truly love all the activities I pursue. When I’m older, I’d love to continue in news casting and be an anchor on a news network.
